Severe Drought in Southern Africa

Southern Africa is experiencing one of the worst dry spells in 100 years, compounded by the lowest rainfall in forty years. The drought is critically affecting food security. More than 24 million people are facing hunger, malnutrition and lack of access to water. It is expected that hundreds of thousands in the region will be displaced because of the severe drought.

MCC is partnering with the Brethren in Christ Church and other local organizations in Zambia and Zimbabwe to alleviate hunger. This includes providing emergency food baskets with maize, beans, oil, and salt.
